Trang Kitchen – Nothing Wrong, But Nothing Worth Coming Back For

After three weeks in Phuket and over 20 restaurant visits, this is the first place I wouldn’t go back to—aside from the dessert place (One Milk Nua) and the mall food court. But desserts are a different category, and mall food… well, what do you expect?

I don’t mean that as a knock against Trang Kitchen. The food wasn’t bad. The value was fine. But when you’re in a place with so many really, really good restaurants, it’s hard to justify spending a meal at a place that just isn’t as exciting. I’d much rather go back to Crispy Pork Ji Hong, for example.

The Food – Just… Fine

I ordered the Panang seafood curry and the crispy pork, while Ashleigh went for noodles with chicken.

The Panang curry had decent flavor, but all the seafood was overcooked. The prawns were tough, which is always a shame when you know how good they could have been. The sauce was nice, though, and overall, it was at least filling.

The crispy pork was disappointing. But at this point, I feel like we’ve set the bar so high for crispy pork that almost nowhere else is going to compare. That being said, it’s useful for context—it helps us properly gauge the quality spectrum and make sure our rankings actually mean something.

The noodles were exactly what you’d expect—just packet noodles in a homemade sauce with plenty of chicken. Nothing bad, nothing special. But for about £2, I guess you can’t really complain.

At least the large beer was only 90 THB—so that’s a win.

Final Thoughts – Wouldn’t Recommend, But Wouldn’t Warn You Away

There’s nothing offensive about Trang Kitchen. If you ended up here by accident, you wouldn’t have a bad meal. But with better, similarly priced restaurants just down the road, there’s no reason to actively choose this place.

No need to break it down by category—it’s bang in the middle for everything.

Would I come back? No.
Would I stop you from going? Also no.

Just… go somewhere better.
