A Comfortable Spot for Coffee & Work

Hosay Bowl is very much a Western-style café—which means Western prices too. But the trade-off? A really lovely atmosphere, stylish décor, and super friendly staff.

It’s comfortable, calm, and a great place to work. If I lived in Phuket, this would definitely be part of the coffee shop rotation.

The Coffee – Stronger Than Expected (Every Time)

The coffee is decent, but like everywhere else in Thailand, it’s strong.

I still haven’t figured out how to say “single shot only, please” in Thai, so all coffee’s miss the mark just a little for me. On the plus side, it’s keeping me limited to one coffee a day—so maybe that’s a blessing in disguise.

Coffee rating? 6/10.

The Food – Good, But Not Cheap

The first time we came, we both had avocado on toast—simple, tasty, but nothing groundbreaking. At 160 THB, it’s way pricier than a typical Phuket meal, but that’s the deal with Western cafés.

On our second visit, we shared a “double trouble” poke bowl and an acai bowl. Unfortunately, it was only a single trouble bowl because they’d run out of tuna.

  • The poke bowl was actually great. Not overloaded with mayo (thankfully), crispy onions for texture, and seeds that added a nice chew. Definitely a solid order.
  • The acai bowl… well, it was an acai bowl. I’ve never really been a fan—they’re just deconstructed smoothies in a bowl—and this one didn’t change my mind. It was fine, but not something I’d personally order again.

And honestly? Although we came here early in the trip and came back again, I’m glad we didn’t order the poke bowl the first time round.

Ashleigh loved the poke bowl so much, she would’ve wanted to keep coming back every day—and at 250 THB per bowl, that would’ve stretched the budget real fast.

Second visit total: 647 THB (£15) for a poke bowl, small acai, coffee, and a mocha.

Final Thoughts – A Great Place to Relax

If you’re looking for a comfortable spot to chill, work, or escape the Phuket heat, this is a great option. It has AC! You’d be surprised how many places don’t.

But if you’re on a tight budget or looking for uniquely Thai flavors, this isn’t the place.

  • Coffee: 6/10
  • Food: 7.5/10
  • Vibe & Atmosphere: 9/10
  • Value: 6/10

Would I come back? Yes—for work or a chill coffee.
Would I recommend it? Only if you’re craving something ‘clean’.
