First Impressions
Wow. That was my first thought pulling up in the taxi. The road up to Malika Sky Bar is seriously steep, you half expect the car to give up halfway. But that incline pays off the second you reach the rooftop and take in the views.
The hotel itself is stunning. The kind that belongs in magazines. Sleek, stylish, tropical-luxury vibes all around. Although… someone should really give the elevator a clean. Years of sea breeze and fingerprints don’t do much for the glass. That said, riding up past the infinity pool was enough to make me want to book a night here just for that pool alone.

The Setting
The rooftop terrace is a showstopper. Hands-down, one of the best panoramic views we had in Phuket. When we arrived, I kept saying to myself, “Even if the food’s average, this view is worth it.”
I’d called ahead the day before and asked if we could have a good table. They absolutely delivered—we were given the best seat in the house. Big bonus.
Drinks

We went for a couple of cocktails from the special menu. I don’t remember the names, but I do remember how good they were, especially the limoncello one, which came in its own chilled bottle and poured out to nearly two full glasses. Smooth, refreshing, premium.
Price-wise, about £7 per cocktail. Some might call that pricey for Thailand, but considering the quality, and comparing it to what you’d get in London or even Turkey, these were fantastic value.

Starters

Duck Carpaccio (320 THB)
Grilled Hokkaido Scallops (490 THB)
The duck was tasty—flavourful and tender, not chewy at all—but I probably wouldn’t order it again. Not because it was bad, just because there are more exciting things on the menu to try.
Duck: 6.5/10
The scallops, though? Outstanding. The best scallops I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth texture. (there were 4, but we ate one before taking a pic)
Scallops: 9/10 – Must order.
Main Course
We went big:
Barbecue Seafood Tower (2,500 THB) – Grilled lobster, tiger prawns, squid, salmon, blue crab, oysters, mussels, vegetables, and sauces.
This was definitely a spectacle—a proper showstopper of a dish when it arrives at your table. But flavour-wise? A bit hit and miss.
Lobster: Good, but didn’t convert me into a lobster-lover.
Prawns: Tasty, but I’ve had better.
Squid: Overcooked and tough—genuinely disappointing.
Salmon & Crab: Nice enough, but fiddly.
Oysters: Delicious, but lacked proper garnish.
Mussels: Fine.

All in all, the variety made it feel generous, but I think it was too much for the kitchen to execute each item perfectly. You’re better off ordering mains where the chef can focus on one protein and nail it.
Seafood Tower: 6/10 (7/10 for presentation)
Atmosphere & Extras

Ambience here is next level. Scenic views, candlelit tables, soft lighting, and even a live saxophone player. They had a fire show too, though it was in the busier section of the rooftop. Honestly? Didn’t mind missing it—the view was better than any fire show.
Ambience: 10/10
Service
Friendly and polite, though a little slow at times. It wasn’t seamless, but when the staff did come around, they were warm and accommodating.
Service: 8/10
Value for Money
Yes—it was the most expensive place we ate in Phuket. But for a luxury rooftop venue with that level of view, service, and plating? The prices felt justified.
Value: 7.5/10
Final Thoughts
Malika Sky Bar isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an experience. The views alone are worth the visit, and if you’re selective with your food choices (i.e., go for the scallops and cocktails), it can be a truly special evening.
Would I come back? Yes—but I’d skip the seafood tower and explore the regular menu instead.
