When an Accident Turns Into the Best Decision

We actually didn’t mean to come here—we were supposed to go to ตำราตระกูล 家味厨房 Clan Text, but right next door, we saw what looked like a Chinese restaurant. No name in English. No listing on Google. Just a place packed with local families and regulars.

We thought we were at the right place, then after ordering, realised we weren’t.

And honestly? This turned out to be one of the best food decisions we’ve made.

Cheers

The Food – Spicy, Intense, and Absolutely Delicious

We ordered:

  • Sichuan spicy soup
  • Egg fried rice
  • Crispy beef “salad”

The rice? Perfect. Fluffy, flavorful, simple, but executed flawlessly. 10/10.

The crispy beef salad? How can something be this crispy without batter? Yet still so juicy inside? I wish every salad tasted like this. 8.5/10.

The Sichuan spicy soup? This was no joke—easily the spiciest thing we’ve eaten so far in Phuket. The flavors were all there, with that signature numbing heat, a proper entry-level introduction to Sichuan hot pot culture. If it had noodles in it, I’d have loved it even more—but then again, it might have been impossible to finish. 8/10.

The Vibe – Local, Authentic, and A Total Gem

This is the kind of place you don’t stumble upon unless you’re really paying attention.

No tourists, just local families enjoying great food. The restaurant was simple, clean, and friendly, and while service wasn’t overly attentive, it was exactly the kind of no-fuss dining experience you want from a spot like this.

Friendliness & Cleanliness: 7.5/10

Final Thoughts – A Must-Return Spot

I wish I could tell you the name. I wish I could link it on Google. But honestly? If you’re in the area, just find Clan Text, and look next door.

For a restaurant we accidentally walked into, this was a seriously good meal—and one I’d definitely go back for.

Final Rating: 4.25/5. A hidden Sichuan gem.
